Gilligan’s Island professor Russell Johnson dies at age 89

Russell Johnson, the actor who played the Professor on “Gilligan’s Island,” has died of natural causes. He was 89.

Dawn Wells, the actress who played girl-next-door Mary Ann on the popular ‘60s sitcom, confirmed Johnson’s death in a Facebook post Thursday afternoon. “My 2 favorite people are now gone. The professor past (sic) away this morning. My heart is broken,” she wrote.

Johnson died in his Washington state home in hospice care surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his third wife and two adult children.
